Being Supportive this Exam Season…

It’s exam time!

Are you the parent of a somewhat-frazzled teenager or student? Have exams turned your house into a place filled with anxiety and stress?

Exams may be an unavoidable aspect of the schooling system, but there are definitely steps you can take to dial down the stress levels and help everyone to handle it a bit better.

Here’s Claire with her words of advice, from very recent first hand experience…

Creating a laid-back environment at home, will without a doubt have a positive impact on your children’s studying time. After all, we all know that stress and the effects are incredibly counter productive. It’s worth pointing that out to the young ones if you see them getting a little frantic and frustrated. Just breathe….

It’s also important to remember that, although it may seem like it right now, exams are not the end of the world. The universe won’t implode if they sacrifice some time off studying for some fresh air and quality time with their friends. Encourage them to continue finding fun and joy in life. Unburden them of the pressures and incorporate relaxation into your daily lives.

Being supportive doesn’t equal pressure. Be gentle with them and trust that they will find their own way. Don’t let exam-fever wreak havoc in your household!
